- Big Canoe, Georgia's premier mountain community is located less than one hour north of Atlanta's I-285. It occupies more than 7,000 architecturally controlled acres in the lush North Georgia Mountains, with elevations ranging up to 3,200 feet. Nearly a third of the property is set aside for greenbelts and recreation areas. There are more than 85 miles of paved road within the community, and all utilities are underground.
- There are three pristine lakes in Big Canoe. Lake Petit, the largest at 100 acres, and Lake Sconti are reserved for boating (canoes and electric motors only, please) and fishing (stocked with trout and bass), with a marina on Lake Petit. Lake Disharoon is reserved for swimming, canoeing, and paddleboating.
- Noted golf course architect Joe Lee designed all 27 holes of the challenging and scenic Big Canoe Golf Club, rated among the top 20 courses in Georgia by Golf Digest Magazine. "Creek" Nine recently renovated. Full-time professional staff, pro shop, full driving range and practice putting green add to the enjoyment.
- A full range of tennis facilities can be found at Big Canoe. Eight outdoor courts (four hydro-clay and four hard surface), with four lighted for night play; two indoor courts; a full-time professional staff; and a well-equipped pro shop.
- The Big Canoe Swim Club offers a new free-form pool and refreshing Lake Disharoon for swimming, a white sandy beach, canoes, paddleboats, a natural rockslide, snack bar, barbecue and picnic areas, and party room for family enjoyment. A second swim club, covered pavilion, and sports fields are on a site just inside the North Gate.
- The Fitness Center at Big Canoe opened in December 2000. This beautiful facility includes state-of-the-art exercise equipment and weight machines, aerobic room, racquet sport court, a 25-meter indoor lap pool, private massage room, Jacuzzi, Sauna, men's and women's locker rooms, and a juice bar.
- Miles of hiking trails and jeep trails interweave the unspoiled natural beauty of Big Canoe. Of interest along the way are the beautiful array of flora and fauna, deer and other native wildlife, streams and three waterfalls. McDaniel Meadows, a 34-acre wildflower preserve, is the most recent link of trails to be developed.
- A 360-seat interdenominational chapel provides worship services on Sundays and numerous activities during the week. The adjoining Broyles Center offers meeting rooms, a library, pottery room, and a large dining room with full-service kitchen. An outdoor amphitheater provides a beautiful natural setting for special events.
- There is 24-hour security within gated Big Canoe, with fire and ambulance/medical service just across from the North Gate.
- The Big Canoe Country Store offers food, gifts, video rentals and gasoline service.
- US Mail and inter-community mail delivery is made to the Big Canoe Post Office. 24-hour ATM banking is located there as well.
